Question Which to use? Abyss/IIS/Wamp apache on XP?

Hey man this PHP/IIS setup/configure/whatever is the dogs bollocks.
I have been developing in PHP/IIS till IIS gave me some odd error that I really couldn't find a solution to & couldn't run any type of file from my pc,
I went onto Abyss and I had no problems at all - everything worked great till... a system crash and the only backup I have is my data(just databases and sites)

I have reloaded IIS to give it another try - maybe this time it will like me, and work with me.
I can't get this setup to work at all!

Should I go back to Abyss or stick it out with tons of errors in IIS?
Firstly is it "IIS", "PHP" or "MySQL" that is giving me all these errors?

I think I have read about 40 pages on how to setup PHP on IIS but no luck!
I am really tired, as reading and doing the same thing over & over can & will tire anyone out.

I have MySQL 5.0 I think.
WinXP Pro
PHP whatever you guys suggest - tried them all.
