Win98 WAMP
Has anyoone successfully set up a WAMP system on Windows 98?
I originally did it with an XP machine without too much hassle ( after dumping Foxserve, which I personally thought was garbage ) and have had no problems. Now, trying to do a 98 machine, nothing will work right. Actually, I havent gotten beyond trying to get Apache and PHP set up. Neither Apache 1.3 or 2.0 will work properly, along with php 4.0. It just doesnt work, no matter how many times I install and tweak. I tried using XAMPP ( it installed, but the docs gave very little help on actually using it, where to place files/folders, or anything else ), don't want to pay for Triad ( which is now renamed and charges for free open-source ), and all the tutorials I've followed just arent cutting it. Should I dump the idea of doing this? I cant afford an XP install disc to upgrade the puter ( it was a freebie recently given to me, so I can't complain too much ), or will this actually work? |
