I am just now installing PHP 5.2.11 and at the end of the installation I got an error message:
"Error trying access httpd.conf file. You will need to manually configure the web server.

So how/where do I manually configure the web server?

Thanks, appreciate the help.

I could be wrong (Its been a while since I used IIS) but I believe that IIS doesn't use a httpd.conf file. That is the file used in apache as the config for the web server. In IIS I believe you can use the IIS manager to add PHP in the config somewhere but its been a while since I've done that. I would honestly say just uninstall PHP, get the installer and re-install selecting IIS from the list of web servers. Also I have noticed recently that there are multiple versions of the installer (vc6 and vc9). It says on the left side of the page for IIS you should use the vc9 installer. all the files are available at http://windows.php.net/download

Thanks for the reply,
re: httpd.conf thats what I thought.
On the 5.2.11 Web Server Setup screen there are Apache options then:
IIS FastCGI (IIS ISAPI module)
IIS CGI

and then four other web servers I have chosen the IIS FastCGI option.

Thanks again for the reply.
This is so easy on Apache even on Windows.

problem installing PHP 5.2.11 on XP IIS 5.1

When I try to run a .php page from the root (Inetpub/wwwroot) I got a CLI error:
"CLI has encountered a problem and needs to close. with a PHP icon.

So I know it was at least trying (what is CLI?).

Now I am back to "CGI Error The specified CGI application misbehaved by not returning a complete set of HTTP headers. The headers it did return are: "

Thanks for the help.
