Apache compatibility.

Hi -- My laptop just went up in smoke (literally) ... I had Windows XP Pro on running IIS, PHP, and MySQL. I have a urgent need to use this system or a new one next week... If I buy a new laptop what versions of Windows is Apache compatible with? XP Home or Media Center ok?

I have never run Apache, and really only need the web server capability as a local web server, that I ran an PHP application and MySQL on. --

My requirement at this point is a no hassle solution to my predicament, with out spending an arm and a leg.

RE: Apache compatibility.

Yep my old system was running XP Pro too. But $600 laptops usually don't have that. :-)

Anyone?

Apache for Windows is very easy to install, and its open-source freeware. It's also alot more secure then using IIS, which has a bad trackrecord of vulnerabilities.

There is a nice artical on installing Apache and PHP on a Win32 system here:
