Boot problems part II: the rise of grub
My older machine now has Gentoo installed. I also installed grub so I could also boot to linux. But something is wrong, I get the following message when I boot the machine:
Code:
GRUB Loading stage1.5. GRUB loading, please wait... Error 21 This message comes before the menu where I can select which OS to boot into. I found that error 21 means "unknown boot failure." Very helpful Specs: P2 450MHz 512MB RAM Windows 98 and Gentoo 1.4 dual boot |

RE: Boot problems part II: the rise of grub
I don't use grub as my boot loader (I prefer lilo) but I found this:

RE: Boot problems part II: the rise of grub
Thanks, Askhan. Actually I found exactly the same page and tried those BIOS settings but they were no use.
Plus, I just solved the problem by installing lilo. It works perfectly. A free hint to everyone: If Grub fails try Lilo (and vice versa.) It took me days to realize that I don't have to stick with Grub. Perhaps I should be worried about my brain? |
