DNS and Router Questions

I want to first register my own domain name and then host it myself on my own DNS server. My connection is Comcast Cable going to my D-Links router.

1st I want to register a Domain name, but not have the person the register it from host it, I want to Host it. I have Apache installed and up and running my localhost server.

2nd can apache be my DNS server? If not what can be a DNS server?

3rd If I put my router IP address in the URL my page comes up fine, but it obviously won't come up when trying to access the IP outside of my network. How can I use the IP address that Comcast gives me, or any other way?

I know this is a lot of information, thanks for your time!

RE: DNS and Router Questions

Not all companies provide both domain names and hosting, you'll just have to shop around.

The router can act as a DNS server.

As the outside IP address points to your router, you need to forward all port 80 (HTTP) requests to your Apache server.
