RE: DNS servers
The "exactly how" depends on your OS. Regardless, the change is made in your "Network" configuration file for the server.
If I understood right ? You have domian name "iamhere.com" and now have two new DNS IP's that know iamhere.com goes to 172.1.1.10 (which we'll say is your web server's static IP) that I'll further assume you received from your ISP. ? If correct, then all you have to do is register the domain name, make sure the iamhere.com = 172.1.1.10 is set within the DNS tables and then wait New name registration and DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to promagrate. So you might be able to use the iamhere.com URL today or the day after. In the interim, you can just use the IP address. |

RE: DNS servers
I just checked out zoneedit.com.
Question, why ? Their cost seems a bit high. You should be able to get a DNS entry from your local ISP for say $10.00 maybe $15.00 a month with out the Per MB limit and fee. If you using the DDNS (Dynamic DNS) then I can understand. Just curious |
