IIS 5 Problem

I installed IIS 5 on my xp pro machine. Everything worked great for a while. Then couple of months later something went wrong. The server is not working. I tried restarting it nothing. I look in the services part. It's there and running on automatic. But when I type http://localhost , nothing error page. I went to the IIS setting (manager) and under the Internet Information Services i do see my Desktop (local machine) listed. But before there was a tree structure that broke down into ,"web: and SMTP. But right now there is nothing under there. Weird! I ried reinstalling it but nothing. Only thing I did before it started acting crazy was get a cable modem installed and did the windows updates. Can someone please help!

RE: IIS 5 Problem

You may try the control panel add/remove programs to remove the IIs componeent and then reinstall it. Note that IIS has a number of subcomponents. Reboots between steps probably wouldn't hurt. There's an old joke about how to reset Win Blows.

RE: IIS 5 Problem

I tried doing that. I uninstalled it. Then restarted. And then reinstalled it. Still same problem. I even unistalled all the updates, Norton firewall and antivirus.
