multiple usernames same ip

we got a guy logging in as mutiple usernames trying to cause some chaos ie copying peoples avatars and signatures and posting to tick other people off.6 different usernames same ip address do we have our culprit i would hate ruin someones reputation if its the wrong guy. thanks

you could always ban the ip....

are you saying you dont know who is doing this, but this guy is suspicious because he has 6 usernames? but you still arent sure?

iv'e meet this guy in person seems like a nice guy(motorcycle riding club)but his usernames came back with the same ip address as the one trying to cause fueds within the club. and trying to pose as others people on the board .now i just wanted to be sure before he gets the final boot out of the club as he swears up and down it's not him

IP's don't lie.. well, you can fake an IP but why would somoene fake his to make it look like him?

ban the IP doing it, if its not him, it wont affect him, if it is, you are better off without

Could be a proxy server, with multiple users behind it. I agree, if you are experiencing nothing but trouble from this single IP, block it.

thats what he's saying but caught him in to many lies . how big would a proxy server work? same network at work or a multinational company?

if its an aol ip, you would be banning a bunch of users who use aol internet service. thats because users share ips on aol, so each time they log onto the net, they usually get a new ip.


but if this is ALWAYS the same ip, and its the only ip causing problems, ban him.

if you want to be near 100% sure, check the browser user agent that the trouble maker logs on w/. if its the same browser as the other usernames he claims not to be, hes very likely lieing.
