php or movable type for a blog?? Newbie question

php or movable type for a blog?? Newbie question

Hi guys,

Im new to php/my sql and my reason ive strated to get in to it is so i can incorporate a weblog into my website.

Ive heard about movable type but 2 things put me off:

1> its not the easiest thing to set up and configure.
2> im not too sure if i can/how to use it to incorporate a blog WITHIN my website.

Ive got wamp running on windows fine and have been learning the basics.

Before i go any further i want to know is it hard to set up a blog with php/mysql. Is it a task for the seasoned programmer or could a novice like me struggle through???

*Could anyone recommend a good source of infor for creating a blog with php. A web tutorial, book maybe???*

Or on the other hand should i just pay sixapart (moveable type) for an install??
