Redhat 9.0 shut down problem

hey,
After installing Redhat 9.0 (Shrike) on a computer i built a few weeks ago all works fine apart from the shut down feature. When you click shutdown it prints various things like "Sending TERM message" then alot of lines of unreadable code flashes by on loop and doesnt shut down.

Apart from this little bug redhat works fine for everything. As you can probably tell i am fairly new to redhat so i cannot seem to find the answer (I have tried looking online with no success).

The Pc Specs:
800mhz AMD duron cpu
5gb hard disk
128mb Ram

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you try to shutdown from a console?

That's hard to say. I don't use Gnome but I there is certainly a forum dedicated just to Gnome. I would try to ask there or just create a shut-down bash script and link it to your desktop.

RE: Redhat 9.0 shut down problem

Thanks for the idea about the bash script, i have already done that and it works fine. I am going to look into why it wont shut down from gnome but atleast i have a way to shut down now.

Do you think if i changed gnome for kde it would make any differance?

RE: Redhat 9.0 shut down problem

It is quite possible IMO. But if you prefer Gnome I see no reason for switching to KDE just because of the shut down issue.

RE: Redhat 9.0 shut down problem

i think i will just stick with gnome and a shutdown bash script, and look into why it is doing this. Once again thanks for your help.
