SMS marketing
my boss has enlisted me to find out solutions for using SMS as a marketing tool... specifically, he wants to use text messaging for clients to send a keyword(s) to a 5-digit number and return a designated reply
ex: text "studio" to 555555 and get a list of vacant studios 1. Is there server side software/scripts that can complete this request? 2. Am i in the wrong forum? 3. Hey llama... how ya doin? |

I did a little look up and found this site that tells about the 5/6 digit sms numbers (called common short code [csc]). They are pretty expensive (at least I think). For a random code that they assign it is $500 a month and for a code you select it is $1000 a month. Also they are required to be purchased in blocks of like 3 month minimum with the fees due up front. Also each phone carrier can accept/reject any code they want to and if they reject a code, you are not entitled to a refund of that money at all. I also found this free whitepaper explaining marketing through csc's. it might help.
I didn't find any specific applications, however I did find more accurate results when googling for csc stuff over sms. |

SMS Marketing
Hi,
A big advantage of SMS Marketing is the software programs used to provide detailed tracking so advertisers see how many cell phone users are receiving their material. The software also logs demographic data and specific information about individual consumers, such as their name, age, and location. In this way, SMS Marketing helps users to target their future campaigns to the audience best suited for their product. Experts in the field talk about two kinds of marketing. "Pull marketing" is the passive form, where users search material, from magazines to online search engines to blogs, to find the product they want. Then there's "push marketing," when information on the product or service is sent to the potential customer with the confidence the material will be well-received. If you're ready to "push", SMS marketing is the perfect vehicle. For more info : relaystation.co.uk |
