Sub domain problem

hi all

here's my problem

I set up a sub-domain on my server

basically set this up
dev.mydomain.org

files are dumped in the DEV folder that was created when the sub-domain was created

now...everything works except the images...it won't show me any images.

if I go to here for example...
dev.mydomain.org/images/
I see the listing of all the files...but if I click on any of them I would get this erorr
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /images/graph.jpeg on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Apache/1.3.41 Server at dev.mydomain.org Port 80

if I manually go to www.mydomain.org/images/ then I can view the file

any idea why this happens?

My technorati rating at Jan 31 was 305717, at May 30 it was 127627. Today it jumped to 91705 which I expect is just a glitch and it will fall back again. Not spectacular I suppose. I'm not sure what is good really - there are almost no reliable stats on an 'average blog'. Most of those who talk about this stuff are in the blogging about blogging or internet marketing fields. What is good for other topics I have no idea. My niche is health (physical, emotional, mental, spiritual and social).

Probable you have hotlink protection activated for your account, check .htaccess files under the main domain and the subdomain directories. Did you try to put and check some text or html file from images directory?

Its probably the .htaccess file which is now allowing to view the images. As you mentioned that you can view these images by using main domain link then the .htaccess in sub-directory is the one having that restriction. Also you can check the the web server error log to get clear idea of the actual cause of this issue.
