Using router for web hosting.
My ISP provides dynamic IP address.
I am using Linksys 8 port router (BEFSR81-CA). There are 8 computers hooked up with internet through this router. One of them is mine. I created my own home page in this computer and I would like to use my computer as a web server so that my website can be viewed anywhere from the world. I am very new in networking field so could anyone help me to solve this problem. |

RE: Using router for web hosting.
You have to port forward the http port (80) to your local computer in your router configuration.. You should have an option under the advanced menu for uPnP port forwarding.

RE: Using router for web hosting.
Yeah my http is working properly but when I try to do ftp://hostname it does not work and it gives me the error that can be found under http://tbgc.dyndns.org
It works when I use ftp://xxx.xxx.x.xxx, IP address I mean. So how I can use the hostname for using ftp insted of using the IP address. I would like to put username and pasword so that only selected people can download from my ftp server. How to do that? |
