any chance of a Python forum?

I've been getting into Python of late and find myself really wishing there was a Python section of codewalkers the same way there's a PHP section. I feel safe in saying it would draw a lot of users if there was one.

Any chance, guys?

Ursus

RE: any chance of a Python forum?

Hmmm nice idea, but then you could say why not a forum for language X. I think it could be better to have one for Misc Compiled Languages, Misc Interpreted Languages or something along those lines to encompass the languages which dont have a dedicated forum.

RE: any chance of a Python forum?

Yeah, but, unlike Python, language X sucks. :^)

Alright, if a Misc Interpreted Languages is the best I/we can get, then I'll take it and count myself lucky.

So is this a definite decision or does it have to go through more admin review or something? Is there a timeline I could give other Python-ists for when to expect it?

RE: any chance of a Python forum?

Not sure I want to add a python section....if I just add a forum, then there will be a need for a code section and a tutorial section.

then someone wants ruby...

then something else..

it's not that I have anything against python, it is just that this is a php site at heart...

RE: any chance of a Python forum?

Matt, true, this is a primarily PHP site, but how many of us can get away with just doing PHP? That's why there are sections for databases, client-side stuff, server administration, and so on, right? Perl's been a requirement for getting a job doing LAMP administration for years, and now Python (and Ruby) is making strides toward taking over that role.

I understand your hesitation to add another section for fear of endless section requests, but I think a lot of that could be avoided by following Andrew's idea of a general Interpreted Languages section. That would serve for Perl, Python, Ruby, et al.

I'm sure you must be busy with the rest of the site. I'd be more than happy to take on some of the administrative burden of configuring and managing the section, if that makes any difference to you.

Codewalkers is your baby (or so I'm assuming based on your post) and if the answer's "No" I'll have to find somewhere else for a Python bb, I just have a real love for the mechanics and existing community of your site.
