You should add a chat to your site(at least for members)...Also, when sending a private message. You should have the message open in a popup the next time the reciever views a page...Maybe open it up in a cheap PHP chat with the sender...I've just noticed that I never pay attention to my lttle inbox...I'm sure the popups would get annoying, you could maybe have an option to turn it on or off...

I think a little web irc client would be good. Then just put what network and channel you're on so we can go in through our own clients. I like chatting about programming... and stuff.
