CMS for a newspaper

i have been searching for a CMS for the pius x-change (http://piusxchange.com). it's a newspaper and so monthly or day archiving doesn't fit. i need a script that has manually archiving-- that is, i can click a button and it archives everything to a new issue, then i can start submitting stories again... anyone know of a script that does this or has a plug-in, hack, etc...? any help (even if it means jury-rigging something) is appreciated.
