Coder's Titles

Hi all,

I am a regular registered user in these forums at the moment... but, I chose to post this suggestion Anonymus for a some reason.

All registered users of this forums has got a title such as "codebaby","codetoddler" so on.... these titles/ranks are choosen by the number of posts each user got! But, as I think it's not the way to choose one's knowledge. I agree that everybody are being acknowledged by thier new ranks when they get one and they are keen to get into next stage... however, a post which has few words may be useless post can add one more to his/her number of posts...and he goes up on the top posters list... am I correct?

Anyway, my suggestion is this. How about a point system which rates a user's accuracy of the answer/post instead of counting number of posts??? And it's a good way to find how many threads resolved by his/her attempt...

I am sure this will be a hard job to programme a points/ranking system. But still it will be handsome to have one like that.

Looking for your comments about this idea. Thanks.

RE: Coder's Titles

Practically ranking by the # of posts is just a joke. I don't think it is meant to mean that a user that has a lot of posts is great.... It is just a method to quickly see how actively the person posts.

This forum script does support a system where users rank other users. The problem is that I don't want anyone to rate me, and I'm certainly not the only one and I think that's the reason why it's disabled.

I agree with Tkarkkainen. In my opinion, there is no need for ranking system you are proposing, we are not at school after all...
The main thing is, that the problem usually is resolved and it certainly doesn't matter if it was by a member with 1000 posts or 20. Everybody around here is helping for free, as best as he can.

RE: Coder's Titles

We are not here to prove our selves that we are the best.. I'm here coz I have to learn.. The way I learn things is by giving the knowledge to others.. The more I give the more I learn.. If there is a point/rating system it will mess up the wholething.. It will be like running a 100m race..

Nah, codewalkers is for helping people learn, solving their problems and more importantly, learning yourself, this points system would screw everything up ...
