forum - why electrifiedpenguin?
i've noticed some features that seem missing from this forum. usually i forget about them, but the watch this thread feature is so important to me that i remembered it long enough to post about it.
that feature works well in phpbb (the most used php forum on the net?). why not use phpbb? seems to me like there could be a few reasons 1) as developers of electrified penguin, a lot of time has been spent on it, and ownership associated with it. no one wants to let it die. 2) many tweaks and customizations have been made to integrate the forum with the site. it would be hard to start over with phpbb and integrate them. 3) migrating the user data/posts would be a pain. in spite of these hurdles, it still seems to me that phpbb is the better option because it leverages the open source development model (many eyeballs, and all that), has many features, and is constantly being updated. any plans to switch over? are there some things that electrified penguin does better than phpbb? |

I must admit that the "watch this thread" would be a nice add on. Matt, anyway to add this here ? Their are some threads I like to read just for the Entertainment |
