Interviews
Matt,
With regards to the interview. First, great new section. Second, who "owns" the question? Me (the poster) or you as webmaster? Thanks, Liam |

RE: Interviews
Hmmm..well I'd have to say that because you came up with the question you own it. I can't claim to own your words without your express consent. Because you did submit your question to my website, however, that gives me consent to use it.
As for the answers, the same thing applies. The words are Zeev's, but he has given me the consent to use them... |

RE: Interviews
THanks,
Just that he site PHP Everywhere used my question (yay!) on there site, and I was just wondering if: a) you had let them; b) if I want them to, without saying its my question. Thanks, Liam |

RE: Interviews
There are different legal views on this. but for the most part Matt now owns the question. You posted your question on a public accessable forum. Forum being the key work. No different when a news reporter at a press confrence asks a question. Being that it was asked in a open forum not One on One. Every other news station reports the answer to that same if they so wish. No one owns that question.

RE: Interviews
Thanks postalcow,
But it actually wasn't a FORUM as you define ... it was an interview, and in Matt's privacy statement, it doesn't specify who owns what when it comes to the Interviews, however it does when it comes to code. That's my major query. Thanks, Liam |

RE: Interviews
Yes actually it was in "open forum" open meaning can be read by everyone. The same as I stated before. A question asked at a news conference for everyone to hear lets everyone owns the answer. If someone uses it and gives you credit great be happy. If not, sad to say tough cookies. Believe me I came from a legal background. Sorry to tell you bad news but the truth is the truth. This was a good question and so was the one in the interview. PHP is great because it is free and almost all of it's development is done for free. All the help you get here is for free. Matt bust's his rear end to put this forum together for free. Think of your question as a contribution to the PHP community.

RE: Interviews
postalcow,
I honestly don't care ... I was just interested. Also, the site I saw it on was PHP Everywhere (http://php.weblogs.com/). I just wanted a bit of recognition.... but come to think of it, you're right, the beauty of PHP is that it's OS. That is my contribution to other beginners, Liam |
