Message board
Just a question about the forum... why not use one of the more developed boards like ikon board or PHPForum or invision board?

RE: Message board
i think this is a good forum, has all the features required, I find the "more developed" forums to be heavy loading, also, matts integrated this one into his site nicely, works well

RE: Message board
invision board is super fast and not a heavy load, it was developed in PHP by the guy who originally wrote ikon board in perl. Not trying to cause an issue just wondering because invision board really has tons of cool features.
No big deal, the thing I really don't like about this board is the width of the message box is too narrow. I sometimes drag this window onto both monitors so I can see it in a wider format. |

RE: Message board
It really wouldn't make a difference what forum I used when it comes to the width of the messages. I would want to incorporate any forum into the layout of the the rest of the site. I hate it when you go to a site, click on the forums link, and then are taken to a whole different format and look. Really irks me...

RE: Message board
i agree with matt, thats the main reason i stuck around here like a bad smell ;) it feels more homely like this. Somewhere like tutorialforums.com seems too business like and not friendly..unlike this place

RE: Message board
I agree that it looks much better if your site is incorporated with the message board otherwise there is a disconnect when you go to the forum, but here is a site that a kid that works for me built.
http://dreamincode.net/ IMHO the forum is more powerful and more enjoyable to use because the width of the text box is better. Not trying to be argumentitive, just making a suggestion, B |
