php code : validate posted PHP codes

Hello,

I think you should validate all codes posted to the PHP code repositery. A few months ago it was just a code repositery, now it gets messy because some people post scripts & programs (http://codewalkers.com/seecode/341.html) or useless and unsecure PHP code snippet (http://codewalkers.com/seecode/342.html).

If you want to add a scripts & programs gallery to codewalkers, you should create a new section because if the code gallery contains code snippets, scripts & programs... It won't help anyone anymore .

The "Source Veiwer" from cscartman really scared me. It's a good idea to help people to improve the code they post but what if a beginner decides to use that code on its page ?... Hack time

So let us know what you think about the whole code gallery improvement. I think the only solution would be to validate the PHP codes each time some post it. Or at least we should be able to report a unvalid code snippet to an admin. You could also add a new comment to the PHP code archive page : "only post code snippets, scripts & programs are not allowed". The phpFriendlyAdmin "code" is made up by a change log and a link to the project website...

I think it was time to say something as we got the same problem on a french PHP community.

JM

RE: php code : validate posted PHP codes

I completely agree with you and plan to take action very soon (read within the next couple of days) to do a bit of revamping to that system. My goal is to only have locally posted code snippets that are useful.

Hi Matt,

Hope you will find a suitable solution. Mine would be to validate each code snippet. I'm not sure it's a good idea to create an other scripts & programs website as long as it's not different from the BIG ones, HotScripts...

Thanks for the quick reply,
JM

RE: php code : validate posted PHP codes

Hi Matt,

Sorry to bother you again with the code repositery but... :
http://codewalkers.com/seecode/344.html

I'm not sure people will be able to read my comment as someone posted a junk of HTML. If you could remove it or clean it... That would be great

Thanks,
JM
