This is likely an issue with the Vbulletin highlighting and the Administrators may or may not be able to edit this. Could also be an issue with highlight_string() PHP funtion, if its apart of Vbulletin it could be "encrypted" so no editing can be done.
If you wanted you could just use a combination of [ CODE ] and [ PHP ] tags. Eg: Code:
