previous, next thread links
I'm still new here, so I'm a little reluctant to suggest changes, but here goes:
I'd like to see "previous thread" and "next thread" links when viewing a thread. It's not absolutely necessary, but it would make it easier to scan several threads, or to catch up on all the most recent posts. |

RE: previous, next thread links
It is an interesting request and at first thought it seems trivial to implement. But, then I thought about it a bit more. It wouldn't be as simple as just using a threadid that was one less or one more. To do it correctly, it should be done by the thread that was last modified just before or after the one you are on.
That's where the problem lies. It can certainly be done, but not without a bit of overhead. I've worked hard to optimize the performance of the forums and I would hate to bog it down with something like this. |

RE: previous, next thread links
not to mention posts that have been updated since you opened the original thread to read it. the previous/next links would then be inaccurate.

RE: previous, next thread links
To help conserver the server, couldn't you make another page just to handle the queries. So the link would be to change.php?d=next and change.php would handle the queries and redirect you to the correct thread. That also handles the problem of the links being outdated.
