Hi,

Not really sure what you are saying. Could you please give a little more information, and maybe a link?

Thanks.

I believe he is saying that some tutorials are incompatible with modern MYSQL, PHP and vice-versa. PHP5 class tutorials not working on PHP4 etc. Perhaps there should be a Language Version or Requirements section on tutorials. Or maybe that would be added be each author?

I agree that every code centric tutorial should mention which versions it was intended for.

There is also the other type of tutorials, the one that aims at being timeless, concentrating on principles rather than code. These tutorials are not code centric, the code is merely an example. These tutorials wouldn't need the version reference.

It's hard to say what the OP means. A link to the tutorial he's talking about would be helpful.

Andrew agrees: Maybe the version reference would be included by the author, not a pre-defined section.
