About Matt's News Script Tutorial

Hey Matt (or whoever can help me figure this out)

I was playing around with the view news script and I was wondering if there's a way to limit the number of entries that the script displays? (like through a variable you can set through the query string)

Well, thanks ;)

RE: About Matt's News Script Tutorial

php Code:
Original - php Code
  1.
  2. foreach($data as $element) {
  3.     $element = trim($element);
  4.     $pieces = explode("|", $element);
  5.     echo $pieces[2] . "<BR>" . "<b>Posted by " .
  6.     $pieces[1] . " on " . $pieces[0] . "</b><BR><BR>";
  7. }

change that to something like :
php Code:
Original - php Code
  1.
  2. $i = 1;
  3. foreach($data as $element) {
  4.     $element = trim($element);
  5.     $pieces = explode("|", $element);
  6.     echo $pieces[2] . "<BR>" . "<b>Posted by " .
  7.     $pieces[1] . " on " . $pieces[0] . "</b><BR><BR>";
  8.     if($i == $numtolist) {
  9.        break;
  10.     }
  11.     $i++;
  12. }

then just pass in $numtolist in the url

RE: About Matt's News Script Tutorial

Hi Matt,

I think your tutorial about the news script is great!
I have a question: How can i put a link in a newsitem?

BTW: The other question about the $numtolist is not very clear to me yet. Is it possible that you can tell more about it? For example: Let's say there are a few highlights on the homepage, and they link to the whole article?
