Having trouble with tutorial "Creating an image gallery"

Okay... that last line when I try to view it from a web browser I get this error :

Parse error: parse error in path/tofile/images.php on line 9

I'm running this off of OS X Server 10.2.8 which has FreeBSD underlinings with a nice interface.I'm not positive I have the latest version of PHP on it yet, but that code should work in older version of PHP right?

Yes I am a newbie with php trying to get better and figure things out on my own since I don't have the money to buy books and classes hehe. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

GD = library, 2 = version
