firstly what a truly amazing script this is thanks alot. i was just wondering if someone could help me. i would like to add some formatting to the way in which the large picture are displayed what part of the code would i need to change ?

these aren't difficult changes. do you have a copy of the tutorial explaining all the code?
basename() would work for getting rid the file extension. not sure what you mean by changing the formatting of the large picture display.
