Problem with news item tutorial

My last message was lost in the crash - this is a repeat

I am new and am using PHP (4.2.2) with Xitami on Windows. I had a problem with the news item tutorial part 1

I got it to work by putting 'global $HTTP_POST_VARS;' at the top of the script ( as suggested in the forms tutorial - thanks ) but I also had to separate the form part from the script part.

Is there anything else that I should change before I move onto part 2 ?

I think that this problem is related to the new version of PHP but if I have made a mistake let me know
