Sorting Database Results with PHP

I have been looking for a tutorial for sorting database results and have come across this tutorial.

I have my code already which populates a table but i want to be able to add a drop down list and a submit button.

The drop down list will be what the results are sorted by instead of using a link in the table header.

Is this possible with this tutorial? If it is i can combine it with my code.
