Tutorial on Syntax ???

Can anyone recommend a tutorial on the Syntax of PHP? In that past few weeks of trying to learn PHP on my own almost every one of my problems has come down to syntax. I need to learn where "" go or ''. When to use () instead of [] and I *REALLY* want to know when to use those { } symbols and what they are for and how come some lines end in ; and other don't.

Anyone have any ideas on where to learn to speak PHP ???

Thanks!
Have a great day
- Jim

RE: Tutorial on Syntax ???

Not a tutorial per se, but the PHP manual's Language Reference section is probably a good place to start. It has many examples, and the comments are often helpful too.

RE: Tutorial on Syntax ???

i'd say check out the [search=tutorials]arrays[/search] and [search=tutorials]strings[/search]

here are some results that look promising:
overview of arrays and php strings primer
(both found using the searches above)

both located in the "basic" category in the tutorials section
