dbal is a simple php abstraction layer if you cant find where to download it, it is just as easy to re-create. I May be wrong but im sure certain forums like phpbb use the dbal.php database abstraction layer. Its probably worth a go finding it in phpBB

I downloaded phpbb version 2.0.8a but did not succeed in locating a file like dbal.php. Could you point it to me?

oh sorry i meant to say phpbb uses dbal and it has all the database files stored in the db/ directory. And db.php is probably part of dbal functions it uses.
