Making navigation bar scroll with the page.

I have a horizontal navigation bar, and I want it to stay at the top of the page as a viewer scrolls down. I'm thinking it may require javascript? Right now, I have the background positioned and non-scrolling so the page scrolls on top of it, and I want the navigation bar to stay at the top of the screen as the view browses down. Not trying to be repetitive, just trying to be clear.

Thanks in advance!

Put the top navigation into a seperate <div> from the main content, and have the main contents div overflow attribute set to scroll?

I think that is the sort of thing needed for you

I don't think so. At least from what I've been researching. What you're talking about I believe is to create like a test box to scroll down in manually. What I'm wanting is when the view scrolls down the page, I want the navigation bar to follow them. So no matter where on the page the viewer is, the navigation bar is at the top of the screen.

*edit- I want it to look as if the navigation bar is floating in place. I don't want everything to scroll in a separate portion than the rest.

Ok. I found the solution. It took a little while. For anyone else who is looking for how to do this, here is a link.

http://www.jtricks.com/javascript/navigation/floating.html

and to get the floating navigation to be centered, I changed the x location in

# var floatingMenuId = 'floatdiv';
# var floatingMenu =
# {
# targetX: -250,
# targetY: 10,

to

# var floatingMenuId = 'floatdiv';
# var floatingMenu =
# {
# targetX: 0,
# targetY: 10,

Thanks!
